Supported Living - a home from home

What is Supported Living?
Lyndridge Supported Living units offer a unique opportunity, and have been developed for active elderly people to offer choices to individuals to enable them to maintain an independent lifestyle .

People who reside with us are assessed as “active elders”, who demonstrated a wish and intention to maintain or maximise their independence and mobility, with a “homely” environment, offering the security of support being on hand 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.

Whilst we have fully qualified staff in the unit 24/7, it is important to understand that Supported Living units are not care or nursing homes.  To avoid misunderstanding in respect of services provided, people taking up residency within one of our Supported Living units are deemed to be “tenants”.

We encourage participation, but it is down to the choice of the individual how involved or active they choose to be within the unit.  Each person has their own private space, along with access to shared areas.

We respect their privacy, and all tenants are free to choose which unit they wish to live in, and the chosen property is to be treated as their “home”.  They are encouraged to play an active part in the decision making process, and can furnish and decorate their room to their own taste.

Our purpose
The purpose of our Supported Living units is to provide accommodation and support services for senior people in a “homely” setting.  We actively encourage continued independent living, enabling people to lead a full and active life according to personal preferences, by providing the means and assistance required to make informed choices.

Our aims
At Lyndridge Care, we are committed to:

  • Encouraging independence
  • Preserving dignity
  • Personalising services
  • Enabling freedom of choice
  • Fostering individuality
  • Nurturing the spirit
  • Involving family and friends

 Services
We offer personalised services, tailored to suit the individuals needs. There are essentially three elements, split into tenancy, support and care - all of which are clearly detailed in the agreement.
As a tenants stay extends, and their needs change, we are able to offer increasing levels of support and arrange care, which are continually assessed via a thorough monitoring process.

Our support staff are on hand to provide assistance and encouragement to the tenants to enable them to continue to maintain their independent life style and exercise person choice in the manner of their lives.

The care element of their package is offered by Care providers, who are appointed as the choice of the individual, so tenants can opt for either Lyndridge Care staff or alternatively via another existing or new provider—the choice is theirs.

We organise a range of activities and trips out, along with professional attendances at the unit such as hairdressers, chiropody, clergy  which are made on a regular basis, or as required.

Our Staff
All support staff working within the Supported Living units are employed by Lyndridge Care, and subject to our employment criteria, policies, procedures and training requirements.  Whilst work remits may vary, all staff are subject to assessment, supervision and on-going training.

Lyndridge Community Care Agency staff are registered with CSCi, and as such, have to conform to all the statutory regulatory requirements.

Fees
The same basic price exists in all of our Supported Living units, thereby offering choice of venue, whilst still under the Lyndridge family “umbrella”.  The weekly Tenancy and support costs start at around £270 per week.

This cost could be met in full by an amalgamation of benefits, for example Attendance Allowance +  Pension Credit + Housing Benefit, if a person is eligible to receive these.  We are able to offer free advice and assistance regarding funding issues, and can help complete the necessary documentation to facilitate access to benefits.

Day Care Facilities
For those wishing to use our wide range of facilities including assisted bathing/showering facilities, we are able to provide this at selected Supported Living units.

Day Care is available in selected units (8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm at Weekends).  A special working week (Mon to Fri) rate is available for permanent bookings (over 4 weeks).   Check with the main office for charges.

Assisted bathing/showering is available at Beeches and Trevenn.

Respite Care
For those recovering from an illness, or after a stay in hospital who require support on a short term basis, we offer respite care in two of our Supported Living units where we provide competent and trained staff, on duty 24/7.

Respite Care is available at The Beeches and Moorview Supported Living bungalows at our weekly rate.  Please note that we do not provide nursing care.

Interested?
We can arrange a visit for family or prospective tenants at any one of our units, or come and “spend a day” visit to meet the other tenants and get a feel for the environment.  We are also able to organise a “short stay”, whereby you can stay for a week to try out the facility more fully and experience Supported Living in more depth before committing.

Call the office on 01837 54782 for further details and up to date information on room availability.
