Every effort is made to maintain a "homely" feel to the house, which dates back to the 1800's and was originally a rectory. Residents and visitors can enjoy panoramic views from the front elevation bedroom windows, over the beautiful tors of Dartmoor and the town of Okehampton. We offer a stimulating programme of weekly activities and events, all of which are available for everyone to join in, if they so wish. There are trips out to local places of interest, including Paignton Zoo, the Sealife Aquariam, craft and local produce farmer's markets, day centres, pubs and the nearby beach at Bude, Cornwall. Additionally, we offer "static" activities, including a knitting/sewing circle, paper crafts sessions and armchair mobility exercise sessions, twice weekly. To enable easy transport, we have invested in an adapted bus which can accommodate 11 people, including our dedicated driver and two carers, who accompany our residents. Involvement in our activities programme is not restricted to our Home Residents - all tenants at our supported living units and the local day care centre attendees are also invited, which widens the social opportunities to all. |
